Behind The Volt supported the inaugural Brunei Half Marathon with specialist consultancy to the Event Management team, shaping the technical vision and on-site delivery for a truly iconic setting. Hosted on the Sultan Haji Omar’ Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge – one of Asia’s longest bridges and a location rarely accessible to the public – the event demanded careful planning, creative sensitivity, and precise execution. Our work culminated in a striking lighting design that transformed the bridge’s towers into a defining visual moment as runners passed beneath them during the night race.

Key Highlights

  • Technical Consultancy: Advised the Event Management team on technical concepts and delivery strategies for a large-scale night race on critical infrastructure.
  • Scenography & Lighting Design: Developed creative scenography and lighting concepts to enhance the bridge’s architecture and elevate the runner experience.
  • Supplier Support: Worked closely with technical suppliers to align creative intent with safe, practical, and efficient on-site delivery.
  • Iconic Environment Delivery: Navigated complex access, permissions, and logistical constraints on a bridge typically closed to public activation.
  • Runner Experience Focus: Ensured lighting moments were designed to inspire participants while maintaining safety, visibility, and flow.

Impact: Transformed a highly restricted, iconic structure into a visually powerful race environment, creating a memorable night-time experience that celebrated community, fitness, and place.
